Name: ISO 3166-1
Abstract: The existence of various country codes developed by different organizations can be confusing if you exchange goods or information in our ever more integrated world. To make sure that communication works you need an accepted, up-to-date country code standard. ISO 3166 is this commonly accepted International Standard and the ISO 3166/MA has been updating it since 1974. 7.0
Use: - All national postal organizations in the world exchange international mail between them in containers carrying ISO 3166-1 codes for identification of the country of destination
- The Internet domain name sytems uses ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes to define country-coded Top-Level Domains (ccTLDs), e.g., for the countries listed above; ".fr", ."za", ".au", ".br", or ".jp".

phpEurTool_001.php A stand-alone class written in PHP. Compatible with PHP 4.3 and up.
This class retrieves the source of the list from one of the linkbases. It then checkes if update criteria (you can set) are met. It fetches and parses the list. This class has functions to give you back information in various formats (array, html, xml). You can filter the information on country name and/or Alpha-2 code.
Use: This class can be used to present information on a webpage, or used in a script to update your database.
eurCountryList.sh A "nix"-shell script.
This script retrieves the source of the list from one of the linkbases. It then checkes if update criteria (you can set) are met. It fetches the list and stores it in a comma delimeted file on a location of your choice.
Use: This output of this script can be processed by your "nix" system.
